Poppi was born in the water, and has been in love with it ever since. She plays in the water, sleeps underwater, and ah, if only she didn’t have to head to shore to munch on her favorite grasses, life would be perfect!

This kit is for intermediate crocheters. That's right – if you're ready for a more challenging pattern than the Woobles beginner kits, then this kit is for you! Fret not, the instructions have plenty of pictures to guide you through the trickier parts of the pattern. If you still need some help, drop me a line at help@thewoobles.com.

Im from Canada and I got this as part of the “Zero to Hero” kit. Didn’t have to wait too long before receiving it (though it still is a little bit of a wait). I’ve never crocheted before this. Although it is possible to learn how to crochet and read patterns on your own, it was more convenient this way because it was almost like an online class and the materials were already provided! I’m now confident that I have the skills to make other projects and read patterns. For those new to crochet, I definitely would recommend doing some of the beginner Woobles kits first, because this Hippo one expects you to already have prior knowledge. The YouTube videos saved me.
Of course I had to add a little belly button!
I did 4 beginner kits before tackling Poppi. I could do the beginner kits in a day - Poppi took about 3 weeks. This is due to the smaller yarn (more stitches) plus several new skills learned which took some practice. I enjoyed the process and feel proud of my results.
I love having intermediate options. The kits teach you new skills so gradually in ways that make sense. She was very fun to make and the yarn quality is great
Poppi was a challenging but super fun pattern to crochet — having made a few of the beginner kits definitely helped build up the skills needed for this one! I’ve gotten so so many compliments for the end product :) can’t wait to make another Wooble soon!
After completing all of the beginner Woobles I could get my hands on and Fitzherbert the Bear (my first intermediate kit) I decided I was ready to challenge myself a bit more. Poppi was definitely a challenge haha. Her little color change ears and her toenails were a struggle for me but I felt so accomplished when she was complete! Also enjoyed learning a new stitch, the bobble stitch!
