Rounds 11-15, changing colors, & the decrease stitch

Now that you've got the hang of crocheting, let's learn how to change colors and do the decrease stitch. First, here's a preview of what we're going to do in pattern speak:

Round 11: 40 sc, dec (41)
Round 12: (switch to white) dec, 17 sc, 2 dec, 14 sc, 2 dec (36)
Round 13: 2 dec, 11 sc, 4 dec, 13 sc (30)
Round 14: [3 sc, dec] x 6 (24)
Round 15: [2 sc, dec] x 6 (18)

Crochet the first 40 sc of Round 11 and then watch the video to learn how to switch colors in a decrease stitch:


Did you catch that? Even though the pattern says to switch colors in round 12, you actually need to introduce the white yarn in the last step of the last stitch of round 11. So for the last decrease in round 11, do the final yarn over and pull through in white yarn.

To do a decrease stitch without a color change, do the same steps but without introducing a new color:
