The tail
Brace yourself. It's time. Time to learn the magic loop. Pick up the yellow yarn and watch this tutorial:
Magic loop giving you trouble? Try this easier chain method instead. It'll probably leave you with a hole in the middle, but that's OK – you gotta do what you gotta do to make a circle.
Whether you made a circle using the magic loop or chain method, give yourself a pat on the back for finishing Round 1. Now make the rest of the tail:
Round 1: | 6 sc in magic loop | (6) |
Round 2: | 6 sc | (6) |
Rounds 3-4: | (orange) 6 sc | (6) |
Rounds 5-6: | (yellow) 6 sc | (6) |
Rounds7-8: | (orange) 6 sc | (6) |
Rounds 9-10: | (yellow) 6 sc | (6) |
Fasten off and leave a long tail. (You'll use this yarn tail to sew the tail onto the body.) If you'd like to make the edge a little smoother before sewing the tail on, you can do the invisible fasten off:
Lastly, watch this video to learn how to sew the tail on nice and neat. The tail should be in the middle of the stripes, right below the last stripe.
