His foxy good senses means he’s no amateur!
He can hear animals underground
And make twelve vocal sounds
And hoards food all the time since he’s quite the fierce snacker!

    So cute

I’ll admit I’m definitely still learning to feel more confident with my crochet skills, but I’m so glad I was able to finish this project after just two beginner woobles (Fred and Cornelius). I struggled a bit with the bag straps but I’m so happy with how it turned out!

    A Good Challenge!

Francois was my fifth Wooble, and second intermediate kit after Harriet the rabbit. I found this was a good kit to help me improve my skills with color change, as well as working with the smaller yarn. The body was very similar to the rabbit’s, so I felt this one turned out better since it’s the second time I built a similar body structure. I liked that the white yarn in the snout overlapped nicely with the white on the chest…it gave it a nice touch!

I did find the backpack to be a challenge, however. I was a little unsure of whether I was doing things correctly, even though I followed the directions exactly. For example, one part called for me to stitch around the perimeter of the backpack’s flap. The problem I encountered was the two longer sides of the dark green flap didn’t seem to have defined stitches to work into! So I just took a guess, and hoped it would turn out ok. I don’t have much experience with flat pieces, so maybe that’s why I had trouble with it. The straps on the backpack confused me as well…but once again, I just gave it a shot and it turned out ok.

Overall, I felt very accomplished when I put the finished backpack on Francois. I received a lot of compliments from friends as well! This kit took me longer to complete than the rabbit, so I definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a challenge and a longer project to work on! I would recommend either starting with another intermediate kit first, or having done a few of the beginner kits first. It may frustrate a newcomer if they aren’t comfortable with color changes or multiple stitch types.

Great way to build my skills!

Francois was a giant undertaking having only done one Wooble before, but he turned out great! It was nice to use my skills and build on learning to read patterns. I learned some new crochet stitches, and having to take more time on a Wooble (and not power through in one sitting) was really satisfying. Added bonus that his little backpack comes off - because that's just adorable.

    Fantastic Kit!

I loved making this fox kit! I made a few kits from The Woobles before attempting the fox. This pattern was a bit more challenging than the others, but if you've done any of the other intermediate kits you can definitely make this! It turned out wonderfully because the pattern is so easy to follow and includes the tutorials you need inside. I LOVE the detachable backpack - I think it gives this fox a lot of character.

I would absolutely recommend this kit! It's so nice having a kit for something like this with more yarn colors so you don't need to go hunt down each bundle of yarn yourself. There is plenty of yarn and stuffing to spare.

One tip - when making the white stomach of the fox, don't pull the white yarn too tight as you're crocheting the orange. I'd recommend even leaving some extra slack on the white yarn in each row near the back of the pattern so that when you stuff the fox the yarn in the middle doesn't constrict. This way you can avoid a fox with an hourglass figure haha.

Definitely get this adorable kit - you won't regret it!

    Cute Lil Camper!

The pattern/videos were as helpful as always but I recommend trying the intermediate hippo or bear kits first. Definitely recommend doing at least a few beginner kits but its not impossible to tackle these intermediate ones once you get the stitches down, just more frustrating at times if you have to redo a row or two. There’s a lot of different parts that you’re making for this one though so not the best choice for a first intermediate kit. Cute little fox though and fun little accessories too!
