Poppi was born in the water, and has been in love with it ever since. She plays in the water, sleeps underwater, and ah, if only she didn’t have to head to shore to munch on her favorite grasses, life would be perfect!

This kit is for intermediate crocheters. That's right – if you're ready for a more challenging pattern than the Woobles beginner kits, then this kit is for you! Fret not, the instructions have plenty of pictures to guide you through the trickier parts of the pattern. If you still need some help, drop me a line at help@thewoobles.com.

The cutest hippo the world has ever seen

Poppi was a challenging but super fun pattern to crochet — having made a few of the beginner kits definitely helped build up the skills needed for this one! I’ve gotten so so many compliments for the end product :) can’t wait to make another Wooble soon!

    Fun, more challenging kit!

After completing all of the beginner Woobles I could get my hands on and Fitzherbert the Bear (my first intermediate kit) I decided I was ready to challenge myself a bit more. Poppi was definitely a challenge haha. Her little color change ears and her toenails were a struggle for me but I felt so accomplished when she was complete! Also enjoyed learning a new stitch, the bobble stitch!

    Great kit!

This was my first intermediate kit and was a nice challenge. Going from doing the small beginner kits to this larger one had me a little nervous at first but the instructions and the video tutorials were so helpful that I quickly got over that. There were a few new skills used that aren’t seen in the beginner kits, so it was fun to learn new things and still not have to feel overwhelmed by a lot of new things at once. I’ve done almost all of the beginner kits which really helped with both my confidence levels and reading the pattern, but the smaller yarn and hook size took a little getting used to. My poor hippo’s eyes got put on crooked in relation to its legs, so I gave it a scarf to finish off the model pose. Other than the eyes, I’m pretty happy with how this turned out!

    Poppi was a challenge!

After trying 3 beginner kits, I felt like o was ready for the intermediate kit. I underestimated the step up in challenge. The smaller hook and yarn made it significantly more challenging to do things like magic loops, but I stuck with it. I ended up taking months to work on this due to the challenge. But it’s properly sold as an increase in difficulty, and having trouble with it doesn’t mean I’m not going to give it 5 stars. Any question I had that couldn’t be answered by the site was promptly answers when I contacted them. I’ll keep woobling, but might stick with the easier kits! Side note: I ended up stitching the body REALLY tight, so poppy is a LEAN hippo!! Lol

Another great kit from The Woobles

Poppi the hippo was the next level for me. As usual, the instructions were clear and easy to follow. I am always amazed at the tutorials as well. They are so informative and clarify all aspects of amigurumi. My granddaughter loves Poppi as much as I do. Now on to birthday hats to celebrate The Woobles one year launch. Best wishes for continued success!!!
