I had a lot of fun making Murphy. I found the gradual release of βtraining wheelsβ to meet my needs as a learner. I had plenty of time to learn basic stitches doing that long tail to perfect my stitch sizing and start getting even stitches. As you can see the stitching of the head was pre-perfection, but I love that big lumpy head and if my bf and I had babies their heads would be huge so maybe itβs better if I get used to the idea now via eel. Anyway I screwed up almost every stitch of the frill but it still came out good, so even though that was hard for a beginner the stakes werenβt so high and Iβd say this is a good first wooble.
Iβm brand new to crocheting and have been using the woobles to learn. Murphy is only my second wooble. His body was easy to tackle once youβve got the basic crochet stitches down, but this piece definitely pushed my sewing skills with shaping the body (I restarted a few times but eventually got it). I also felt like my piece looked a fair bit smaller than the video. But overall he turned out super cute! And I liked learning a new stitch to make the fin. Iβd definitely recommend Murphy, but one of the more blobby shapes may be a bit easier if youβve never crocheted before.
Murphy is my 4th Wooble, but maybe the most fun to crochet. What he may lack in cuteness, he makes up for in unique character. I really enjoyed learning the new half double increase crochet stitch (to make his wiggly fin). And I thought he had just enough normal stitching (single, increase and decrease ) to keep it interesting. AND he glows in the dark!
I have wanted to trying crocheting for a while, and when I saw Murphy, I knew it was time. I genuinely love him like I would love my own child.
Murphy is so cute and was so much to make! The online instruction videos were really thorough, though lacked a bit of detail with some of the sewing. This was my second Wooble and Iβm looking forward to the next. Canβt recommend Murphy enough!
