The wings
Brace yourself. It's time. Time to learn the magic loop. Pick up the white yarn and watch this tutorial:
Magic loop giving you trouble? Try this easier chain method instead. It'll probably leave you with a hole in the middle, but that's OK – you gotta do what you gotta do to make a circle.
Whether you made a circle using the magic loop or chain method, give yourself a pat on the back for finishing Round 1. Now make the rest of the wing and the other wing, you'll also need to learn how to half double crochet stitch (hdc).
Fret not, putting 2 hdc in each stitch is just like how you do an increase stitch - you're putting 2 of the same st in the same hole.
Round 1: 6 sc in magic loop (6)
Round 2: 2 hdc in each stitch (12)
Fasten off and leave a long tail. (You'll use this yarn tail to sew the tail onto the body.) If you'd like to make the edge a little smoother before sewing the wings on, you can do the invisible fasten off:
Lastly, watch this video to learn how to sew the wings on nice and neat. Sew the wings vertically to the back of the bee’s body, above the top black stripe, leaving a 4-stitch space between them. Make sure the “right side” of each wing faces out so the wings curve correctly.
