A variety of techniques taught in this one!
This wooble is my second - my first being Alice the Strawbs. The body was easy, however, the tomago portion was a challenge! I had to seek alternate resources (YouTube & Reddit) on how to crochet an oval to get a better handle on it. It could just be me - but something was not clicking from the vids. Otherwise, it was totally fine once I got that handled! Super cute and will hang out in my husbands office.
My very first wooble. I’ve been shown basic crochet techniques maybe a decade ago. The videos for oishi were so well done and easy to follow. All the tools were so helpful and there’s plenty of extra yarn too. My sushi obsessed son absolutely LOVED this!
Oishi is my 2nd Wooble. Oishi was fun and a bit of a challenge as I learned additional stitches and techniques. If you are planning to learn to crochet scarves, blankets and/or dishcloths Oishi will help you learn everything you need: foundation chains, turn chains
and stitching rows. On top of the basic stitches, you also learn the whip stitch. You practice single crochet in the round techniques again (sc, inc, invisible dec, fasten off)
Oishi is a perfect second wooble as he helps build on basic Wooble techniques and provides you with several transferrable skills. He would be a bit overwhelming as your first as 1) the yellow egg omelet portion/tamago can get tricky, 2) You have the flat nori/seaweed crochet piece. If you have been doing only in-the-round crochet there will be a learning curve.
