TURN-TO-WHITE Crochet Kit

I’ve made several Woobles now, and this one was the worst. For some reason, you make the ghost in two pieces, a big egg ball and then a coat which is like a sheet the ghost wears that fits the egg ball like a sock. This kit comes with a magic circle to start with so you get a nice round circle on the top, but it’s really lame that you use it to make the egg, which gets completely covered by the coat. You have to make a magic loop yourself for the top of the coat, and mine didn’t come out beautifully so the top of my ghost isn’t very nice. I wish the kit would have had us use the magic circle for the coat instead. And I also think it would make more sense for the ghost to be just one piece. I think we should just make the coat, stuff it, and then create a bottom. As it is, my egg’s bottom is sticking out the bottom of the coat and looks weird because the coat seems too short. Also shockingly, they don’t have you sew the parts together, so the coat can be pulled off the egg at any time, exposing you to the sharp stalks of the eyes underneath. (I didn’t like the red eyes it came with so I used black ones.)

I unfortunately got stuck at one point and emailed the support people for help but it took weeks for a reply that didn’t help. I just had to start over. But probably the worst thing of all is that the white yarn my kit came with had a knot in it halfway through my kit where it had been cut and tied back together. I have read this is something that happens when the yarn is made when it snaps and the manufacturer knots it together. I found it infuriating that they couldn’t have given me a continuous piece of yarn in such an expensive kit. But even worse, later in the yarn ball, I found a hole in the side of the yarn that was frayed for several inches as well. Awful!

I got it and at first I thought it was hard but after a little while it got easier. Now I have a cute little guy!

I enjoyed making this little guy. Mine ate a little too much stuffing so he’s a bit on the chubby side… lol. On to the next Wooble. 😊😊

Absolutely loved how this turned out, and would 100% buy another glow in the dark one. It glows brighter than you’d think and the instructions are easy. The only reason I’m taking a star off is because the yarn had a knot in it, and for the price, I’d kind of expect a beginner kit to have to worry about hiding a knot. It was easy though, and still turned out great. I do also wish there weren’t some cuts in the tutorial explaining how to do the final round. I figured it out, but it cutting to a totally different piece of yarn and telling me to only pull through one loop when there was 2 loops confused me a little, but I got it.

This was my fourth Wooble after Blinky, Pac-Man, and the cherries. I love Turn-To-White, and wish it had been my first project. It was great to apply the safety eyes without needing the two magic ring-based eyes on Blinky. I might redo them now that I’m better at making them and recognizing the stitches much more easily! What was hard when I first started is much easier now! I’ve bought Wooble yarn in every color along with the book, and I cant wait to make more. I’d love to be able to buy the rainbow yarns and glow in the dark yarn, too! Bonus points of we could buy the PacMan series eyes! I hope these stay in permanent rotation, because they are such a great starter project!
